Shining 'R' Ranch and C.R.I.B. Creek Beefmasters
Roy and Iris Ratliff, have been in the cattle and horse business for four decades. Roy grew up on a farm with cattle, pigs, horses and hunting dogs in southern Missouri; while Iris was a girl that grew up in Armourdale of Kansas City, Kansas. They were married in 1971 and have most their married life, lived in the western area of K.C., Kansas; until moving the Ranch to Lamar, Mo. in 2006. In 1982, they began to raise Beefmaster Cattle. Roy was impressed by their growth ability, low maintenance and hardiness. They started with two Beefmaster females and today have over 300 head of Beefmaster cattle. Thus C.R.I.B. Creek Beefmasters was born at Shining R Ranch!
There are hundreds of acres to the Ranch that is spread between Kansas and Missouri, which makes up the Shining 'R' Ranch of about 1,300 acres. The main ranch is in Lamar, Missouri where all cattle for the ranch are located, as well as some of their horses. If you are interested in cattle Lamar, Missouri is where you will have to go to pick up your animal. We have heifers, bred heifers and bulls for sale year round.
Most of the horses in Lamar are for their grandchildren to ride and not many for sale. We do not show and raise horses as much as we did in the past, as the boys have become too busy for that now. At one time we had over 30 horses and stood 2 stallions. Today we are down to 4 horses and a couple of ponies, for the kids and grandkids to ride for fun.
In Peculiar, MO area, we have our Myotonic Fainting Goats and Border Collies. We first got into meat goats and found there was a great amount of maintenance and work in certain breeds. We then switched to Fainting Goats as they are very easy keepers and easy to care for. Each spring we have about 35 to 40 kids that will be for sale; so keep an eye out around March and April of each year to see what we have available. If you want a bottle fed baby then keep an eye on the "Goat for Sale" page for the newest additions. If you want to purchase a goat you will have to go to our location in Peculiar, Mo. All our goats are 100% in bloodlines and registered.
Registered Border Collies are a great stock dog to have on your farm. A great dog is worth two men in working livestock. We use Border Collies as they are a smart and are nice working dog to have. We do not have litters every year, to keep our females healthy. So check with us on our plans of available litters. If you want to purchase a pup you will have to go to our location in Peculiar, Mo area.
In all of our animals we are about the 6 essentials that we keep back in our herds.
